Understanding the examination pattern is vital for success. The NORCET exam has evolved into a two-stage process to filter candidates effectively.
Stage I: Preliminary Examination (11th April 2026)
This is a screening test. The marks obtained here are not usually added to the final merit list for allocation; they are used only to qualify candidates for Stage II.
- Content: 100 MCQs (80 Nursing Subject + 20 General Knowledge/Aptitude).
- Duration: 90 Minutes.
- Negative Marking: 1/3rd marks deducted for every wrong answer.
- Qualifying Marks: Usually 50% for UR/EWS, 45% for OBC, 40% for SC/ST.
- Selection Ratio: Candidates are usually selected for Stage II at 5 times the total number of seats.
Stage II: Main Examination (30th April 2026)
This exam determines your rank and final selection.
- Content: 100 MCQs focused entirely on Nursing Skills, Clinical Scenarios, and Case-Based questions. This stage tests practical application of knowledge.
- Duration: 90 Minutes.
- Negative Marking: 1/3rd marks deducted for every wrong answer.
- Tie-Breaking: If marks are equal, older candidates or those with fewer negative answers usually get preference.
